Mississippi River Daze (#756)

Following the Mississippi River downstream from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and now Illinois is a grand experience.

In morning mist with thunderous rain, I could not see over to the other side as I drove south.  Seeking a way out of the storm.

The day before, I camped at Wildcat Campground (Brownsville, MN)  watching fishermen in their boats, barges in canals, steamboats docking for the next lively tour to board.

Today’s travels brought me to Blanding Landing, a campground on the Mississippi River near Galena, Illinois.

Before sunrise tomorrow, I will head east to the heart of Indiana and the birthplace of a legend.

safe travels my friend. I was at the Mississippi river as a child. Tried to walk down to put my feet in the water……mistake. Sunk in the mud to my knees!
