Way back when the Pueblo Indians lived in what is now the Petrified Forest National Park, some of them used the abundance of petrified wood scattered across the landscape to build their homes.
This structure is one of 7 rooms that made up a Pueblo family home. It is a Kiva where special ceremonies were held. The only access to this room is from the ladder (see the top of the ladder’s poles sticking up?) It is made entirely of petrified wood. I walked 2 miles in the hot desert sun just to see and photograph it.
It was worth the effort. Especially when I found this log remnant in the shape of a heart. Love and best wishes to you all…….
