Pink Money Laundering (#516)

My workcamper job at Caspar Beach brings the world and its stories through my door.

As a reservations/store clerk I see and hear many things.  Some I need to let pass.  But others…..well, I just have to ask.

Joe brought his purchases up to the beach store counter, I rang them up and gave him the total.  He proceeded to count out the money.  Among the cash he handed me were two pink dollar bills.

So I asked how he got them to turn pink.  He said it was an accident.  He’d spilled some Mike’s Strawberry Lemonade on them.  We laughed about that and then he gathered his things and left.

That’s when I noticed the pink bills were dry but still sticky.  I took them to the sink, put a spot of dish liquid on them and washed them under the water.

A couple came into the store then.  I called out, be right with you; I am just laundering some money.  They laughed.

When I held up the wet soapy bills; wife said, oh look, honey, she really is laundering money!

After the bills dried, the stickiness was gone but the bills remained pink.  I think George would approve!
