Before 2014 ended, happy chance led me along I-40 to the town of Elk City, Oklahoma. This route had once been part of the famous “Mother Road” Route 66. I stayed a couple nights at the Route 66 RV Park in the very center of town.
Everything I wanted to experience was within walking distance.
Many towns along Route 66 have a museum devoted to keeping the memory alive

What a Beauty
One of Life’s Simple Pleasures
Antique Harley Davidson Roadster
Movie Poster for a “Drive-In” movie back in the day

You can still take a ride summertimes
It is a joy to see people’s dedication to sharing and keeping up traditions and memorabilia of a great era.
