Passing Through Oklahoma’s Route 66 (#382)

Before 2014 ended,  happy chance led me along I-40 to the town of Elk City, Oklahoma.  This route had once been part of the famous “Mother Road” Route 66.  I stayed a couple nights at the Route 66 RV Park in the very center of town.

Everything I wanted to experience was within walking distance.

Hey, you ol jack rabbit – nice pictures. I love the Buffalo. Someone had a lot of time on their hands!

Some great photos again Annie. You go to some awesome places 🙂
There was a TV show called Route 66 and I was a very unhappy bunny as a 12 yr old not to be allowed to watch it, likewise Rawhide.
I do have to ask, as an English ignoramus, what is the significance of the jackrabbit billboard?

    • The Jackrabbit was a lure to get people to stop at certain roadside businesses along Route 66. You can still see the billboards today (newly done) along Interstate 40 in Arizona and New Mexico.

Where are you headed for Jan?

I just love that pink Cadillac. Great photos of a wonderful time Annie. 😀 ♥

  5. Thanks, Sophie! The pink Cadillac was the highlight of the day!
